Indian & Japanese embroidery
Hand embroidered wallhanging. Dimensions: 100cm x 60cm
A family friend gave me a beautiful and tatted red cloth which she bought when living in India. I was drawn to the intricacy of the rich embroidered paisley design which had once been a seat cover. The vivid Japanese indigo fabric caught my eye at an antiques fair and when the red and blue fabrics met they called out to each so I made a piece of art to celebrate the complementarity.
Materials: Woollen Indian embroidery, Japanese indigo with cotton embroidery thread
